Magnus and Caruana go Head to Head in Freestyle Chess Match

Magnus Carlson and Fabiano Caruana are slated to play a Freestyle Chess match on November 21 and 22. This promotional event is just days before the FIDE World Chess Championship in Singapore.

The games will be accompanied with an announcement detailing the schedule for the 2025 Freestyle Chess Grand Slam season.

In an interview with ChessBase India, Jan Buettner, the organizer of the Freestyle Chess G.O.A.T. Challenge in April 2024, revealed some details about upcoming events in 2025.

Jan Buettner told the reporter that there are plans for four Freestyle Grand Slam events in 2025. The prize fund will be $750,000 in each tournament. He also revealed that in 2026 the plan is to have five Freestyle Chess Grand Slam events, each with a $1,000,000 prize fund.
